In the final turn the French had an opportunity to recapture their regional capital and so salvage a draw from the campaign. In the north both sides were dug-in either side of a river so no action there, whilst in the south the Germans had been pushed back to the forts and were under Prussian attack.
Game 1 - the forts
The Germans deployed their guns into the forts and looked to hold a central position with infantry and placed their cavalry in the east with light infantry trying to outflank in the west.
German defenders |
A series of cavalry attacks favoured the Prussians who were able to push the Germans back into their supporting units and cause more casualties.
Cavalry clash in the east |
The infantry attacked was very attractional with both sides losing troops and one of the forts briefly falling into Prussian hands before they had to retire. Eventually the Prussians gain an upper hand and the Germans reached breakpoint just before the Prussians. Prussian win (narrowly).
Massed Prussians attack |
Game 2 - the regional capital
In the second game the British deployed into the town and placed the Dutch + Rifles to their west and their cavalry split across the flanks. As with the previous game the attackers mirrored and so setup their horse opposite the enemies.
British heavies support the Dutch |
The French advanced boldly but came under accurate rise from the British and Rifles, whilst their horse was unable to make headway against the British.
French centre attacks |
The French attack petered out and they had to withdraw for a British Win. This also gave the British a win in the campaign as they had held the French regional capital.
So the Allies emerged victorious after a couple of months of hard play. Its the first time we've really used the British and their Superior shooting proved tricky to deal with.
